iam goin fishing for snapper blues as they are called what do i use to catch them please help me thank yo

Hey Mike r u in luck. snapping blues r juvenile bluefish & they have a voracious appetite. These r some of the most cooperative fish l have ever encountered on the east coast. l regularly use small 1/4 to 1/2 ounce jigs with great success. We also use spoons like the hopkins or crocodile. & big stick baits like the rapala (when the wind is not blowing too bad). Knowing u r going for blues l would suggest using a 6 inch long steel leader with a swivel & snap. A pack of these leaders costs less than a jig or spoon & has saved many a lure for my friends & myself. One thing to remember, keep ur lures moving at all times. These fish r fast, & have lots of sharp teeth. Have a great time, a lot of fun & be safe. Do not forget ur pliers. Tight lines!!!

l use cut finger mullet or any other small fish you can catch in that area. remember to use wire leader as even snapper blues have very sharp teeth

As mentioned ''snappers'' r very co operative when they r running.
Nothing fancy is needed.
When l was a kid they used to sell snapper poles which were just a thin bamboo rod w/ no reel .
For bait .fresh spearing ( shiners ) r their natural favorite ( frozen will do).
There r snapper ''rigs'' that have a silver spinner, leader & hook ready to go or used w/ bait.
Any small artificial lure, spinner , spoon or jig that simulates a shiner is fine esp when they r in large schools.
The little devils put up a fight & the most fun is a very light rod ( an ultralight fresh water rig is great).. even a cheapo kid is rod.
They have nice sharp teeth so watch ur fingers .
