Im gona try go fishing for the first time tommorow and l just need to know what id have to bring and any tips please..

Do u have a tackle box?

Okay, first of all, there is the rod, it sounds like a lightweight two or three piece six foot pole would do, & l prefer fiberglass which is the norm.

The reel takes real knowledge. The bale kind without the hood over the spool is my favorite kind, does not have to be big.

l do not know what kind of fish u can get in the lake, u do not say where the lake is. Lake Michigan can require heavier line than Lake Woebegone from Prairie Home Companion. Perhaps a tackle shop salesperson can guide u to the best line for ur area.

Do u know how to tie knots for sinkers & hooks? l prefer to use clips so l can add or reduce weight, or change hook sizes or add a lure & remove the weights.

So u need a tacklebox with as many weights, hooks, lures & extra line as u think u will need, plus a cleaning knife unless u know how to catch & release, a pair of needle nose pliars to get the hook out of the mouth of some kinds of fish like catfish & shark (yes, Lake Maracaibo has fresh-water sharks in it!), & if u want to use fish egg bait, the small jars will fit right into the bottom of ur tackle box. l never use a net from shore, but then it might be handy if u r in a boat so u do not break ur line bringing the fish in. A bucket u can keep ur cleaned - caught fish in until u get home. Keep it in the shade though, however, if u can, there is a long light-weight chain that has hook clips spaced apart that u can put into the mouths through to the gill on one side of the fish to keep it alive in the water until u can clean them.

LUNCH that can be kept which will not spoil in case it sits in the HEAT of the hot sun! Handy-Wipes (the best) so u can clean fish gunk off ur hands to eat lunch! Plenty of drinking water as u will get dehydrated -- & l always stay away from carbonated sugar water & alcohol when l am fishing!!

A floppy-brim hat to protect u from the sun, but many fishing people male & female wear baseball caps.

l used worms on tuesday me and my friend caught 17 fish with 24 night crawlers we cut them up also use a small hook when u begging its fun catching the lil fish do not use rubber bait l think its the worst kind

If you do not have a rod and reel, get a Zebco 404--it is very easy to use. Get some small hooks and small pinch on weights, a small cork, and a box of live worms from Walmart. You're set to go.
