If the water is not to cold to swin in you should dive for clams, open them up and use that as bait. Its probably the best thing i've ever used. Worm will work well also.

Easily the best thing I've ever used is chicken liver. The smell is terrible and the cats love it. Wrap it in pantyhose to get it to stay on the hook. They can not resist it.

Well catfish will eat just about anything!
Ive never been catfishing but l do know that there favourite baits r crawdads,shrimp,clams,minnows(make sure u puncture the skin to let out the natural aroma),worms,Fish guts,Chicken livers,Chicken breast,Ham & prawns r sure to catch u fish.
A note of caution u may end up catchiong big carp on some of these baits!.
and if u want to get the cats in ur area pour some chicken blood into the water near u they love it!

Chicken Liver, Worms and Raw Chicken works best.

Really big cats---flatheads and blues---are canibals. Best bait for them is a live bluegill. Second best is shad guts.

Generally speaking, though, cats like stinky, bloody baits. Chicken livers are great, as are any pasty, smelly paste made from fish products.

One of the best is to mold small balls of rancid chopmeat on a treble hook. Cats go crazy for it.

l like 2 use live blue gills(bream), shad,chubs, and goldfish but do not throw your dead bait away when they die .cut your bait in half behind the eyes because catfish go for the eyes.

Worms, sweet corn, salted chicken liver.
