l would like to hear some stories, it may make me feel better to hear that other people have the time to go out and fish when l havent been able to (or make me more depressed about it...who knows!).l have not caught one...not even one, and it is already November!!l guess that is because Ive only been out twice....l need to take a day off work and fish!

Keep at it, there is still time yet! l have however been hitting the salmon this season, my biggest of 15 5oz, not my biggest but not my worst either, & on a fly rod!

l took yesterday & today off work & took a buddy from
Columbus steelheading. Sunday evening l only hooked one fish..on the fly rod of course. Monday we both went with spinning gear & between the two of us we got 13. Today He was using egg sacks again & hooked 3 & landed 2 . l hooked & landed one on the fly rod. The river was perfect but we earned every strike we got. The strikes were not easy to get but as with everything, persistance pays off.

ps Most fish were average.about 26-28'' 6-8 lbs.

l was on the Grand,. l havent fished the Chagrin yet this year.
There is plenty of fish both rivers. Keep on em..you will hook up!

well if it makes you feel any better lake michigan and its tributaries in michigan have been pretty slow this season. that goes for kings and coho too. l have been out a handful of times,and come back each time with an empty cooler. the fish that are there should of waited another year. as for playing hookie.i would rather stand in the river all day long and come back with an empty cooler.versus having to dream about it at work! you only live once! go fishing!

So far so good on the Salmon River - 2 weeks ago landed 4 within
2 hours, egg patterns and wooly boogers. Now the water is up, l will just have to wait to get out again. Looking forward to it, just rec'd some new patterns in the mail - Thanks Kevin !!

Working hard for the fish I've gotten so far. There r a lot of salmon that have moved up the river, & they're thick enough that l catch kings 3:1 over steelhead. Most of my fish so far have been caught on hardware - spoons, silver & really flashy. A few have taken dime sized clumps of roe, typically tied in sacs, under a stealth float. ( l am trying out a few new floats this year, & they seem to be very effective. They're clear, long profile, & have a long stabilizing stem.) The bite was on fire for about a week, then the word got out thanks to a certain person, who will remain nameless, & the stretch that has been holding fish is over populated with anglers & has completely turned off. The fishing is not GREAT, just good. I've had to work pretty hard to get the fish I've managed. l had a nice surprise this past Saturday. Most of the fish have been halfpounders (sub 2lbs), but l managed to land one that went about 10/11lbs. It was wild, so l did not bother weighing it on the scale - just a quick photo & release.

l can only hope that the additional salmon moving into the river will begin to bring up the fall run steelies that measure up into the high teens! What l am doing now is just warm up for the ''big boys!''

l fish the ashtabula river and coneaut creek also some smaller ''secret''creeks in the area but im like you l havent really had a chance to go l should haveover a hundred by now are you in the tournament out of grand river tackle you should be maybe we should both take a day off and go fishin ill show you mine if you show me yours fishen holes that is lol
