What is good line and test for a surf rod

Power Pro 6/20 or Power Pro 8/30.

Braided lines excel in the surf due to their no stretch construction which helps u detect the slightest strike from a fish.

With the diameter of 6LB-8LB Mono u can cast a 2-3 OZ lure or weight over 75 yards with no problem. So, braids help with distance casting also!

And, of course, having the strength of 20 or 30 LB Mono is great.

Make sure to use a Flurocarbon leader & when u r spooling up the braid put 25-30 Yrds of Mono backing on the spool before putting the braid on. A backing of Mono helps keep the braid from ''slipping'' & biting in on itself.

if you fish for small fish(1lb-10lb) :15lb test monofilimant
if you fish for medium sized fish(11lb-30lb):40lb test braided line
if you fish for large fish(40lb-85lb):65lb test braided line
if you fish for small sharks(5lb-100lb): 65lb test braided line with light steel leader
if you fish for large sharks(150lb+) use 100lb test braided line with heavy steel leader
